Walking Long in Scotland
The West Highland Way

Designated Scotland’s first official long distance footpath, the West Highland Way is trekked by Ron Strange. Beginning below Glasgow, and the official start of the trail, Strange comes across Roman camps, Border abbeys, and a gathering of Scot musicians playing traditional music.
After Glasgow, the trail takes Strange into the countryside of Sir Walter Scott, Robert the Bruce and William Wallace (Braveheart), to the famous Loch Lomond, and the infamous Glen Coe with its bloody history, and to the real life setting for Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Kidnapped”. Along the way he encounters a Canadian geologist on walking holiday (over 15,000 people walk the entire route annually), many Highland “coos” (cows), and opportunities for “a wee dram” of the “water of life,” Scotch Whisky.
