Mexico

Highlands to the Gulf

Mexico video 26:34
Traveling mostly by bus, Joanne Heron returns to Mexico seeking out remote archaeological sites, eco-tourism destinations, and a world of food and folk art. Artist, world observer and naturalist, Heron makes personal connections with the people and places she encounters, realizing that they are happier with far fewer material goods.

From Puebla, Heron visits many of the most “beautiful small towns in Mexico,” along with several of the 33 UNESCO designated World Heritage Sites, from prehistoric to 19th century. She travels to Veracruz, through Oaxaca, Cuernavaca and Taxco, sketching and photographing impressions of the country’s architecture, art, and nature.
